The Work

Sixteen passes of the hand,
before a single pillow leaves the studio.

Every ZUMBO begins on the cutting table. Patterns marked, velvet held against the grain, edges sewn closed by a single maker. We do not contract production.

Velvet against the nap, cut on the long table.

Each panel is cut against the nap, by hand. Velvet remembers everything.

A new pattern is chalked for every dye-lot.

Patterns are chalked, then redrawn for every dye-lot. We trust no two bolts are alike.

Named like a fashion house, drawn like furniture. Each shape was developed for a particular sofa form — though they will live on any of them.
